Sorry for the AFK but I lost power from 01Sept to 09Sept, and still don't have internet connected. Baton Rouge got really torn up by Gustav - including me. Still waiting for the landlord to come take a look at the tree in my roof. My ceiling was impaled directly above the head of my bed. I was bivouacing elsewhere, as the bedroom was a high risk area during a storm. After de-bunkering I returned to the homestead and lived comfortably in the 96% humidity and 95+ temps by candlelight. At least it's given me a chance to get rid of a lot of stuff.
Words of wisdom: when you are digging in at your bunker waiting for the worst case scenario, don't lock yourself out and have the only set of keys on the safe side of the wall. During the hurricane. Apparently surviving Murphy requires a little bit of luck.
Unfortunately, as I write this, the school has closed and sent us all home - tornados and gale force winds.
ARGH. I wish there were words to express my joy at my TOD here.
Wish me luck. One more hour and I get the heck outta dodge and back to the bunker.
